To work in Saudi Arabia you need to obtain an Employment Visa, a work permit sponsored by the employer or company, and undergo a medical test. The test requirements are for some countries to ensure you are fit for work. There are different types of work visas. Let’s explore each one of them in more detail.

Types of Saudi Arabia Work Visas

There are three types of work visas for individuals to work legally in Saudi Arabia.

  • Seasonal Work Visa
  • Temporary Work Visa 
  • Permanent Work Visa 

Seasonal Work Visa

A Seasonal work visa is provided to workers who are hired for temporary positions that correspond to specific seasons or events in Saudi Arabia, such as agricultural harvests or tourism seasons. These visas are limited to the relevant seasonal periods.

Temporary Work Visa

A temporary work visa is granted to workers who have short-term employment contracts in Saudi Arabia, enabling them to work in the country for a specified duration.

Permanent Work Visa

A permanent work visa is granted to those who have secured long-term employment contracts in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia Work Visa Application Process (How to Apply)?

  • Job Offer: Secure a job offer from a Saudi company. Many companies in Saudi offer Jobs to foreign employees such as IsDB, and Aramco.
  • Employer Sponsorship: The company will apply for a work visa on your behalf through the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MOHRSS).
  • Medical Test: You will need to undergo a medical test in Saudi Arabia.
  • Visa Application: Once approved by MOHRSS, you can apply for the visa online or through a Saudi embassy/consulate in your home country. From here select the Visa type.
  • Obtain IqamaSaudi Iqama is a residence permit issued by the Saudi Arabian government to foreigners who are legally employed in the country. This allows the holder to live and work legally. The Iqama needs to be renewed periodically.

It is best to Visit and check the List and Contacts of Saudi Embassies. Different Embassies or Consulates may have their own rules and requirements, visa fees, and processing time. This is a general guideline. It is always advisable to contact the Embassy in your country first.
