About the Matter to Life URO Program
The Matter to Life Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program allows Bachelor’s students to work on a specific research question under the supervision of researchers from a Matter to Life faculty laboratory.
Students can choose their preferred laboratory and gain practical experience with scientific methods while working alongside researchers. The program also provides an opportunity to experience Germany’s research environment and build an international academic network.
Participating laboratories are located across Germany, including Munich, Heidelberg, Göttingen, Dresden, Jena, Mainz, Münster, Potsdam, Aachen, and others.
The internship is suitable for students studying areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, informatics, materials science, engineering, bioengineering, and related disciplines. Prior research experience is not required.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s/undergraduate degree.
- Remain enrolled throughout the entire 10-week internship.
- Complete at least 1.5 semesters of their degree by the time of application.
- Have completed at least two semesters by the beginning of the internship.
- Have a minimum GPA of 1.7.
- Have an academic background related to biology, chemistry, physics, informatics, materials science, engineering, bioengineering, or a related field.
- Have a genuine interest in research in the Matter to Life field.
Important Eligibility Note
You must still be enrolled in your Bachelor’s degree for the entire duration of the internship. This means you cannot graduate before completing the 10-week URO internship.
