What Is the Community Engagement Exchange Program?
The Community Engagement Exchange Program is a leadership and professional development initiative designed for emerging leaders who want to make a positive difference in their communities.
Participants gain practical experience by working with a U.S. host organization and learning from American community leaders and institutions. The program emphasizes freedom of expression, civic participation, open inquiry, respectful dialogue, and collaborative solutions to community challenges.
After the exchange, participants are expected to apply their learning in their home countries by developing and implementing a community-based initiative.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Community Engagement Exchange Program 2027, applicants must meet the official eligibility requirements, including the following:
- Applicants must be between 22 and 27 years old on the application closing date.
- Candidates must have at least two years of relevant professional, volunteer, academic, or community-based experience.
- Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to freedom of expression, civic participation, constructive dialogue, and community-level problem-solving.
- Candidates must be living and working in their home country at the time of application, subject to the program’s stated exceptions.
- Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in spoken and written English.
