The Applications are open to apply for the Tokyo Biennale Social Dive 2025. It is a Fully Funded International Art Festival to be held in Tokyo, Japan, between September and October 2025. Calling all international Artists to explore Tokyo and connect the Art to the Local Community. The Theme for 2025 is “Shall we ‘Sanpo”?. Sanpo Means Walking, exploring, wandering, and discovering new perspectives through movement. It is a “Social Dive” which invites applicants from all around the world to explore this theme of “Sanpo”. The aim is to deep dive into different areas of Tokyo City and engage deeply with the local people of the Society. There is no application fee, and all the expenses are covered. Purpose and Objective of the Program
Foster Deep Engagement with Tokyo: It provides an Opportunity for the Artist to deep dive into Tokyo City and connect with the Local community and explore their daily life, culture. This is called “SANPO” (wandering, strolling, exploring).
Generate Art Inspired by Tokyo’s Social Fabric: To encourage artists to create artworks that are directly influenced by their experiences and interactions within Tokyo.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Program is open to all Nationals.
- Artists residing outside Japan.
- Open to all ages over 18 years old.
- Selected artists must present their artwork at the Tokyo Biennale opening on October 17, 2025.
