Fully Funded Fellowship in Singapore for International applicants. The Applications are now open for the Wang Gungwu Visiting Fellowship 2026. It’s a Fully Funded 2-month Fellowship offered by the ISEAS (Yusof Ishak Institute in Singapore). The Objective of the fellowship is to allow the Next Generation of Young Scholars, leaders, and Policymakers to explore the Relationship between major global power countries and their impact on Southeast Asia through Policy research on international Politics and Security, Regional Economics, and Digital Technology in the areas such as US-China Relations, the Rise of China, and its impact on Southeast Asian countries, South China Sea, China-ASEAN relations. The Wang Gungwu Visiting Fellows Program, established by the ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute in Singapore, pays tribute to Professor Wang Gungwu, the former Chairman of its Board of Trustees, recognizing his impactful 17 years of service.

Fellows will be invited for a meeting with Professor Wang Gungwu during their fellowship, where possible.

Fellowship Objective

The Fellowship aims to invite Scholars to explore the relationship between major global powers and their impact on Southeast Asia, such as:

  • Developments in US-China relations and their impact on Southeast Asia.
  • Asia Pacific security issues (e.g., South China Sea, China-ASEAN relations)
  • Progress and prospects of global/regional economic cooperation initiatives (e.g., Belt and Road Initiative and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership)
  • Rise of China and its impact on Southeast Asian communities
  • Use of digital media and technology by countries to further their interests and influence perceptions in Southeast Asian countries.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The Fellowship is open to all the Nationals.
  • Intended for post-doctoral researchers and mid-career policymakers.
  • Mid-career policymakers without a Ph.D. or equivalent degree are welcome to apply.
  • Applicants without a Ph.D. should demonstrate appropriate professional experience and research interest in their CV/Resume.
