Work and Duties
- Production Planning: Collaborate with the Farm Manager and Senior Agronomist to determine crop types, quantities, and timing based on market and weather conditions to ensure optimal yields.
- Operations Management: Plan, coordinate, and supervise the entire crop production cycle, from soil preparation and planting (including seed selection, weeding, thinning, and pruning) through to harvesting.
- Quality & Post-Harvest: Oversee inspection, grading, storage, packaging, and dispatch of produce, ensuring recognition of defective products and managing post-harvest treatment.
- Agronomy: Direct and oversee fertilising, pest/weed control, and promptly identify and manage crop diseases, pests, and weeds. Monitor field operations (water, fertilizer, chemical use).
- Logistics & Sales: Organise the sale, purchase, and dispatch of produce, monitoring market activity and planning production to meet contract requirements.
- Maintenance: Perform basic equipment maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep of farm buildings, fences, and water systems.
Administration & Oversight: Maintain and evaluate farming activity records, supervise field rotations/schedules, manage and train allocated staff/contractors, and report any production, quality, or safety issues.

Requirements
- Formal Qualification: Certificate III or IV level qualification in agriculture or a relevant field, plus at least 2 years of relevant experience, OR at least 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in horticultural operations or farm management.
- Experience in the management of potato, carrot, and onion crops (Desirable).
- Unrestricted Class C Driver’s Licence (Essential).
- Chemical User Certificate Accreditation (Essential).
- Forklift license (Essential).
- HC license (Essential).
Basic mechanical knowledge and experience working with large-scale agricultural machinery.
