DW Traineeship 2026 in Germany (2196-2473 Euros/Month)

The Applications are now open for the DW Traineeship 2026 in Germany. It is a Paid International Traineeship program for 18 Months. One of the German prestigious internship programs offered by the Deutsche Welle (DW). The DW Traineeship is open to candidates from around the world to get hands-on experience in the field of Journalism. Applicants can further polish their skills, and those who are looking to shift from other fields to Journalism can also apply. The Traineeship will start in January 2027 and end in June 2028. Trainees will receive a stipend from 2196 to 2473 Euros/Month. There is no age limit. Language Proficiency certificates are also not required. More details are below.

  • The pre-tax monthly salary increases every six months:
    • Months 1-6: €2196/Month
    • Months 7-12: €2374/Month

Program Structure and Duration

  • Seminar Modules (Approx. 6 months): Focused, theory and practice-oriented seminars and workshops covering modern journalism skills. Topics include TV moderation, multimedia storytelling, data journalism, social media, virtual reality, and working with AI tools.
  • Editorial Placements (Approx. 9 months): Hands-on experience working in various DW editorial departments in Bonn and Berlin.
  • Foreign Bureau Placements: Opportunities to work at one of DW’s international correspondent bureaus (e.g., Washington, Brussels, Delhi, Jakarta).
  • Elective Internship: Often includes a placement with a partner broadcaster or an external internship of the trainee’s choice.

    • Career-changers from other fields (like IT, law, science, etc.) are welcome if they have a keen interest in journalism.
    • Applicants must include published or broadcast work samples.
