The applications are now open for the NextGen ICANN88 Program 2027 in Portugal. The NextGen ICANN Program offers students the opportunity to attend the ICANN88 Community Forum in Lisbon, Portugal, with travel support for selected participants. The program is designed for young students who want to understand how ICANN contributes to the Internet’s technical governance and how the global multistakeholder model works. There is no application fee, and applicants from around the world are eligible. It is an all-expenses-covered trip to Portugal, Europe. More details are below.

What Is the NextGen@ICANN Program?
NextGen@ICANN is a youth program that introduces university students to Internet governance, policy development, and the ICANN ecosystem.
Selected participants receive coaching and mentoring and take part in activities connected with the ICANN Public Meeting. Participants are also expected to give a presentation during the meeting.
Financial Benefits
Selected NextGen@ICANN participants receive a grant of support covering:
- Economy-class airfare
- Hotel accommodation
- Stipend
Eligibility Criteria
To apply, you must:
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral program.
- Be between 18 and 30 years old at the time of the ICANN meeting.
- Currently live and study in the region of the respective ICANN meeting. Find out your ICANN region. Africa, Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia Pacific.
- Have an interest in Internet governance, technology, digital policy, or related topics.
- Demonstrate a desire to engage with the ICANN community.
Program Activities
Selected participants are expected to:
- Attend required NextGen sessions and ICANN activities.
- Complete relevant learning activities before the meeting.
- Participate in mentoring and coaching.
- Give a 10-minute presentation during the ICANN meeting.
- Engage with other participants and members of the global Internet governance community.
