How You Can Study in Canadian Universities Without IELTS?

English Medium of Instruction: You can get English Language Proficiency poof from your previous University and you can show that as an IELTS alternative. It will state that the candidate has completed their previous degree from an English Medium Institute.

Citizen of an English English-speaking country: If you are from an English-speaking country such as the UK, Australia, USA, New Zealand, Canada, or many other officially Recognised English-speaking countries then you do not need to take any IELTS or any other Alternative.

Native English Speaker: If you are a Native English speaker or have spent more than 5 years in an English Speaking Country then there is also a possibility to waive off the IELTS.

Completed Higher Education in an English English-speaking country: If you are not a Native English speaker nor a citizen of an English-speaking country but you have completed your schooling, undergraduate or graduate degree in a university which is in English Speaking country then you are also exempt from the IELTS.

WHED Portal (The Wildcard Entry Without IELTS)

The World Higher Education Database (WHED) Portal is a comprehensive online resource that provides authoritative information on higher education systems, credentials, and institutions worldwide.

You do not need to take the IELTS if your current or previous university’s name is on WHED Portal the language of instruction is English and it is listed on the World Higher Education Database (WHED) Portal.

This is because Canadian immigration authorities recognize these universities as having English language proficiency standards that meet their requirements.

Many Universities in Canada allow English Test exemption if your previous Institute’s name falls in the WHED Portal.

So you need to check which Canadian university is listed on the WHED Portal.

  • Select your country and university name.
  • If the 𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒖𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 is listed only as “𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡” then it’s your Lucky Day. It means students from LUMS University can apply to Canadian Universities without IELTS.

Conclusion: Do not make IELTS an obstacle for you. There are always ways. Try to search out, read out, and find the best possible way.
