Proof of English Proficiency Exemption
You may request an exemption if:
- Your first language is English, or
- You are a current or a former CEU student applying to a CEU doctoral program, or
- You have obtained a Bachelor’s and/or a Master’s degree taught exclusively in English.
The British Council has also launched a new scheme called British Council IELTS One Skill Retake in which you can appear in one module to improve your score without re-taking the full test.

CEU University Application Deadline
For PhD Programs: February 4, 2025: Application deadline for doctoral programs for applicants from all countries.
For Master Programs seeking Financial Aid: October 14, 2024: Application deadline for applicants to master’s programs from visa-sensitive countries (i.e. countries where it may take 9 to 12 months to obtain a study residence permit and visa).
February 4, 2024: Application deadline for applicants for master’s programs from all other countries than those listed above.
