A Cash Prize of 1,000 British Pounds for the 1st prize and 500 British Pounds for the 2nd and 3rd prize. Applications are open for the Commonwealth Innovative Youth Essay Award 2024. The competition is launched by the Commonwealth Secretariat. The Theme of the Essay is Think Trade, Think Green. The competition is aimed at the young nation in the commonwealth countries. The Theme of the Competition is to explore the complex relationship between trade and climate change.
Young researchers and students aged 18-29 from the commonwealth countries are invited to share their insights on a crucial topic: How can trade and trade policy address an aspect of the climate crisis in your country? Applicants have to submit their applications via email. The details about the Essay Topic, the requirements, and the submission method are given below.
About Commonwealth Innovative Youth Essay Award
Essay Topic:
In what ways do you think trade and trade policy can help to address an aspect of the climate crisis in your country? Identify a specific problem, explain how it is linked to the climate crisis, and clearly explain how trade or trade policy can be used to address it.
Eligibility Criteria
- An applicant must be aged between 18-29 years old.
- A National of the Commonwealth member country.
- Check the list of the commonwealth member countries.

Prizes and Honor
- First prize: £1,000
- Second and third prizes: £500 each
The top three essays will also be published in the Trade Competitiveness Briefing Series and launched at the October Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa.

- Essays must be a maximum of 2,000 words (including in-text references and footnotes, excluding reference list)
- Full referencing in any style (in-text and reference list)
- Entries should be submitted as a single PDF or Word file, with 1.5 spacing, Times New Roman font.
