Scholarship Coverage

  • Monthly Stipend of €934.
  • Payments toward health, accident, and personal liability insurance cover.
  • Travel allowance (if not covered by home country or other funding).
  • Monthly rent subsidy (under certain circumstances).
  • Monthly allowance for accompanying family members (under certain circumstances).

Master’s in International and Development Economics (MIDE) offered by German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be from a developing country.
  • Have at least two years of professional experience since graduation (and graduated within the last six years)
  • Meet the admission requirements for the MIDE program
  • English language proficiency proof.

English Language Exemptions

If you can satisfy one of the following situations, then you are exempt from the English Language Test:

  • Applicants whose degrees were taught in English need official university confirmation. For example english proficiency language proof.
  • Applicants with a university degree from an English-speaking country are exempt from submitting additional proof of English proficiency.

All other applicants must submit proof of their profiency in English as listed below. Test results must not be older than two years:

  • TOEFL (Institutional TOEFL is not accepted): paper-based: 580 points; computer-based: 237 points; internet-based: 96 points
  • IELTS grade 7.0
  • CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English), all levels
  • CAE (Certificate in Advanced English), all levels
  • BEC Higher (Business English Certificate)
  • TOEIC 800 points or higher.
  • All tests confirm that the level of proficiency in English complies with level C 1 or C 2 of the Common European Framework of Reference.
