All foreign nationals who are not citizens of Europe and are coming to Romania for longer than 90 days must apply for a Romania long-stay visa. The Romania study visa comes under a Long Stay Visa with (symbol D/SD).

The Romania government scholarship by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a great opportunity as it is open for bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. degree programs. What is Romania’s Long Stay Visa (symbol D/SD)?

This type of visa is granted to third-country nationals who intend to travel to Romania either for pre-graduate, graduate, or postgraduate studies, training, or internship.

A Romania study visa allows you to work for up to four hours a day (part-time) without having to obtain a separate work permit.

Requirements of a Romania Study Visa

All of these documents are required before applying for a visa at the Romanian embassy.

  • You must have an acceptance for study issued by the Romanian University.
  • After the University issues its agreement for enrollment, you must obtain authorization to study from the Romanian Ministry of Education.
  • Proof of tuition fee paid for at least one year (if you are not on a scholarship)
  • Proof of financial support.
  • Police clearance certificate
  • Accommodation proof in Romania
  • Health Insurance
  • A Romania long-stay visa application form which you can download from the website of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • A valid passport
  • Passport size pictures

The application fee for a Romania Long Stay Visa (marked D) is EUR 120

Processing Time

It is advisable by the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs that long-stay visa applications be submitted at least 45 days before the planned day of travel.

To submit visa applications, it is necessary to make an appointment in advance. For scheduling, please visit the website https://evisa.mae.ro

The visa application is submitted in person. Visa applications sent by post or express courier are not accepted.

  • Then it will open a website of the Romanian embassy in your country.
