The OHCHR Indigenous Fellowship was launched in 1997 by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. Applications are open for the OHCHR Indigenous Fellowship 2025. It is a 4-week fellowship that will take place in Geneva, Switzerland in June/July 2025 where you will be trained and get knowledge about the UN system and mechanisms dealing with human rights issues in general and indigenous issues in particular. Trained participants are better equipped to assist their organizations and communities.
This training program is available in 5 languages: English, Spanish, French, Russian and Portuguese. A pre-selection of the 15 to 20 applicants per language group is made by the previous Indigenous fellows. The fellowship comes with a fully funded package including airfare tickets, living expenses, and basic health insurance coverage. Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate must be indigenous (non-indigenous persons will not be taken into consideration.
- Age is not a problem. There is no age limit.
- Fellows will commit to training other Indigenous community members upon their return.
- Candidates must be nominated and endorsed by their Indigenous community or organization. The sponsoring entity should have a substantial and representative membership.
